In 2020, professional fire fighters in the IAFF 8th District will have the opportunity to re-elect Mark Sanders as their District VP.  Mark  provides the proven leadership that 8th District Locals demand and the service that they deserve.


As President of Local 48, Sanders championed Collective Bargaining. One hallmark was enhancing fire fighter safety by securing minimum staffing of four fire fighters per apparatus in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  As President for the Ohio Association of Professional Fire Fighters since 2004, Mark has won tough battles protecting fire fighter's collective bargaining rights and securing a dignified pension for OAPFF members. And as 8th District VP since 2016, Mark has made sure that our locals  have access to the IAFF services that you need to better serve our members.

​​Mark Sanders has nearly 30 years of union leadership experience, including serving as President of Cincinnati Local 48 and President of the Ohio Association of Professional Fire Fighters and as your IAFF 8th District Vice President. While at Local 48 he was responsible for the development of a local affiliate program that was a precursor to Fire Ops 101.

Mark Sanders led Ohio Fire Fighters in their defeat of Senate Bill 5 in 2011. This victory protected Collective Bargaining Rights for Fire Fighters and other public employees.  Sanders also has been instrumental in fighting back against repeated threats of Right To Work in Ohio. 


With Mark Sanders as our District Vice President, the 8th District has increased services to its members. Mark's guidance has ensured that your voice is heard at the IAFF.
